Project ELE Review

Project ELEProject ELE by Rebecca Gober

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I'd say it's more like 3.5 stars. I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This book started out very dry for me. I skimmed through a lot of the first few chapters. It started picking up about the 40% mark. That half of the book was amazing and very intriguing. The book ended on a HUGE cliffhanger. The romantic aspect was very sweet! The powers and how they came about were pretty original, and the climax towards the end was epic. All-in-all a decent quick read!

Plot: Dystopian setting, a virus runs rampant. The government is heating up the earth in order to kill off the virus. In order to survive, people must live in government controlled shelters, but you must pass a physical in order to be admitted. Willow and her father are forced to separate from her mother and brother because he didn't pass the physical.

Shortly after entering the facility, Willow gets put to work and makes new friends. She starts developing a relationship with her boss Alec. There's not much to do at the facility, so Willow, Alec and her other friends go exploring and discover a mystical cave. It becomes more mystical when the group develops strange new powers. But if they are discovered, they wont make it out of the facility alive.

Wow, what an incredible book!! I loved it (and Deo)! This is a Contemporary, New Adult book, and was told from two POV's. The on/off relationship between Deo and Whit was enough to cause a permanent heart arrhythmia. My emotions were all over the place while reading this book! I was excited, pissed, happy, sad, and everything in between.

Deo's mother and grandfather were an absolute RIOT! Especially his mother's euphemisms for sex.. like threading the needle. His grandfather was snarky and sarcastic.

Deo: Surfer, beach bum, jobless, unmotivated. Sounds unappealing huh? But he was far from that. I loved him. He was so sweet, sexy, and very very charming. Super Swoonworthy!!!

Whit: I didn't connect with her as much as I would've liked, but understood why she felt/did what she did. She tried hard to be independent, but was constantly running away from her problems.

The story: They meet in a tattoo shop on Deo's birthday. The tattoo was a gift from Deo's hippie mother. Whilst trying to decide upon a tattoo, Whit offers him one that she had designed. He decided to get it. They soon fall into a just friends relationship, then into a friends with benefits relationship. The problem, Deo wants more and Whit is terrified to make that leap, feeling that she would lose all of the control she had worked so hard to build. Deo pushes too hard and has to get the one person.. the one thing that ever motivated him back.

If you liked Beautiful Disaster or Love Unscripted, you'd like this book. There is a bit more adult language in it, but that didn't bother me.

Q: What book(s) are you reading right now? What do you think of it?

I just started reading this book.. and it is okay so far. It has way too much back-story right now. I am kinda bored with it. But I'm going to give it more time.

What are you reading right now?

Swoon Thursday-(5)

A HAWT meme sponsored by YA Bound. From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering.

Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! We want to know :-)

This weeks swoon is from Half-blood (Covenant Series) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I loved this book and the relationship between Alex and Aiden is super swoony!

Aiden's gaze settled on me, and the air left my lungs. Passion slammed into me, hard and hot. The look on his face-in his eyes-sent shivers through me. Without saying a word, he cupped my face and brought his lips to mine. The kiss took whatever air I had left in me. It was heady and deep, heart-stopping. I never wanted it to end, but it did. Aiden pulled back, his fingers slowly trailing away from my cheeks."

Pretty Hot huh? Who were you swooning over this week?

Waiting on Wednesday-(3)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I just finished reading Jennifer L. Armentrout's Covenant series. I am so ready to see what happens to Alex and Aiden in the next installment!!

Goodreads Blurb:

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Top Ten Tuesday- My Fall TBR List

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish :D Every week a different topic comes up and bloggers list their top ten books in that category. This weeks list consists of my Fall To Be Read List.. To be honest this list is a mile long, and I read like there's no tomorrow. So some of the list will be a whole series.

1. The Chemical Garden Series I just picked up Wither from the bookstore yesterday. This series has been on my TBR List forever! I love the premise of the book and am sure I will love the series!

2. The Goddess Test I have been wanting to read this series for a while. Netgalley has given me an even bigger reason to hurry and read The Goddess test.. I have an ARC of both the Goddess Interrupted and Goddess Legacy! I need to get on the ball with this series!

Fangirling over Jennifer L. Armentrout and Read-A-Thon Updates

Fanfirling over Jennifer L. Armentrout

Sorry ahead of time for this little rave about JLA, it is something I have to say...

I just finished reading The Covenant series and The Lux series last month. The writing was of course excellent for both books. She has such skill in making you love certain characters and hate others. Her writing is down to earth! It's hard to find a book that evokes just about every emotion while reading, yet Jennifer has done that with all the books I've read. One minute you are LMAO.. the next your heart hurts (Like Literally Hurts.. Being stabbed over and over hurts!!) Never once have I been bored while reading. In fact I have to reread a lot.. because I am so enthralled with the book I jump ahead on the page then go back to the top. Also, she has quite a handle on swoon-worthy moments and guys with looks to kill!

The Covenant series is an amazing story line.. she doesn't over do the back story. I love the twist that she put on the Greek Mythology. I thought I may need to be on antidepressants by the end of Pure. My direct quote, "Crying like a 5 year old that just lost her sucker." There were lots of ups to the series too! *shivers* Three words... Aiden St. Delphi!!!

But I think the true Genius is the Lux Series. She makes a main character, that is so easy to relate to. Katy is a completely normal girl, a blogger. What better way to show respect to your fans, than to make them a character in your books?! Then you add Daemon to the mix.. I love the fact that she actually gives us someone we can see. Everyone knows what he looks like. (I kinda feel bad for the model though.. I've seen some stalker pics!) My coworkers and I were having a discussion on what Christian Grey should look

For My..er Your Viewing Pleasure:

Anyway, enough raving. Jennifer, if you read this.. I think you're an awesomesauce writer!

Read-A-Thon Updates

Ok.. so I embarked on a mission to read 3-4 books over this holiday weekend. And boy did I accomplish just that! I read Mystic City by Theo Lawrence, Inbetween by Tara Fuller, and Daimon, Half-Blood, and Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout. The downside to all this reading is that I have to go back through and write reviews on all of them!
