I'm #1 and such..

So as some of you may know, I won an ARC of Requiem by Lauren Oliver. This series has had my emotions on a rollercoaster ride. I was informed that there were over 300 entries for this contest and that I had been a winner 1 out of 20. Which is like top 95%... but to my delight, I learned today that I was #1. The story that I wrote was very personal and heartfelt. One that was a very painful learning experience, and I am extremely honoured to have won.

Here's my story.

I would like to thank Lauren Oliver for everything.. her books (even the endings), selecting my story and sharing it. It means a lot.

Sleeping Gods Review and $20 Amazon Giveaway

Sleeping Gods (Lunangelique, #2)Sleeping Gods by Kristin R. Campbell

This book was an exhilarating continuation of the Lunangelique series. I really love Campbell's twist on Greek Mythology and Angels. The Sleeping Gods is a bit more angsty too!

Cover/ writing style
I really like the cover, it is mysterious. I like Campbell's writing style and the first person POV. Lexi's voice is believable.

Main character
Lexi would so be my bff.. she is snarky, determined, and strong, yet slightly vulnerable. She was depressed at first, because the love of her life Cole left her, but she moved on. I could compeletely relate to her.

Setting
I loved the setting changes in this story!!! I don't want to give too much away about it, but I'd reallllly like to visit the cities Lexi and her friends visit on their trip.

Swoonworthy scale: 7.5
This book is pretty swoony! I love Cole and want so bad to forgive him for leaving. He was only trying to do what was right for Lexi. Plus the fact that he is a total hottie helps ;)

Bonus Points
We get to meet a few Gods and Demi-gods in this book and I love everyone of them! I adore mythology.

Summary

Alex and Lexi finish up their senior year of high school and have plans to tour abroad. In the absence of Cole, Lexi is forced to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. Luckily, (with the persuasion of her father) Patryck is there to help her. In the middle of their tour, it is decided that the group, along with Edmund their father, and a few new friends should detour to Mount Latmos and awaken the Sleeping Gods. But there are lessons to be learned and obstacles that stand in their way...

If you like the Covenant Series, you'd like this series. I know I do (and really caaaan't wait for the next book in this series!!!!)

I love this book!!!

Guest Post: How Do You Keep Your Writing Different?

I try to focus more on the dialogue telling the story. I like descriptions; however, sometimes I think authors take it too far and don’t leave much to the imagination. Another thing I notice young adult authors do that I felt I should be different with was all the chastity. Chastity is a great virtue and something that should not be taken lightly. I understand why so many authors want to drill that into their young readers, but in the real world teenagers have sex. That’s the reality. What I think is important is that IF they decide that’s the avenue they want to take, THEN they need to do it safely.

Easy Review

EasyEasy by Tammara Webber

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This has to be one of My Top 2 FAVOURITE Contemporary Romances EVER!!!

*Fangirls for a minute*

Okay, I think I'm finally ready to write this review. Easy was so heart-wrenching and emotional at times then inspirational at others. I truly LOVE this story, it was so believable. The only thing I could possibly complain about, is that it wasn't long enough. I could've read about Jacqueline and Lucas forever!!!

Cover/writing style
I love the cover, and the extra pictures that Tammara has on her blog page of the two models. HOT! Tammara's writing style was smooth and easy to follow. She adds perfect elements of humor and there were a few steamy scenes.

Main character..
I can completely relate to Jacqueline.. her depression after she lost her boyfriend, her Jacqueline precaution with men after the incident that happened in the first chapter.

Swoonworthy scale: 9
This book had a few steamy scenes, but it also had scenes that just made your heart melt. Lucas is so sweet and protective.. and HOT!

Bonus Points

Lucas
Enough said...

Favourite Quote

Oh... so that's what all the fuss is about.

Summary

Jacqueline is on the verge of having a meltdown, her boyfriend dumps her and she almost gets assaulted at a party. Luckily Lucas was there to save the day. But those events make it hard for her to move on, especially with Bad Boy Lucas. He works at Starbucks, slacks in class, and is covered in tattoos. But one thing Jacqueline doesn't know is that Lucas has skeletons in his closet too.

Will they both be able to move on from their troubled path and be together or will the past haunt their relationship? Read it and see.. if you like contemporary romances (new adult/upper YA) then this book is a MUSTTTT READ!

This book was AHMAZING!!!!

Mini Review Monday-Catching up!!!

Lately, I've been enjoying the reading aspect of blogging, but have neglected the reviews. I don't see the need to write a full review on every book I read, but feel obligated to say something about these books (as they were ARCs). So here's my catch up session full of Mini Reviews! Warning.. most of these are Erotica books.

ARC Days of Blood and Starlight Review

Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2)Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

EPIC!! Captivating! It's so easy to get consumed with Taylor's worlds of Monsters and Magic. Her writing is truly one of a kind, back and fourth, up and down, graceful, yet raw. I really love this series and now can't wait for the next book.. 500 pages wasn't enough!!

Days of Blood and Starlight brings the richness, color and intensity of the first book to a brand new canvas. This statement, from the blurb is so true, because this series is a piece of art!

The ending came all too soon, and ugh if it wasn't a small cliff hanger. I do feel that the romance was missing in this book that had been present in the predecessor. I would've liked more Akiva and his hotness.

Cover
I love the cover art for both books! They are beautiful and intriguing.

Main Character
Karou is such an interesting character to me.. blue hair, tattoos, chimera. She is headstrong and loyal to her family and friends.

Setting
The setting, as in Daughter of Smoke and Bone, is all over the place. Prague, the desert castle, and Eretz the world of angels and monsters. Taylor gives you small spinets throughout the book, painting a vivid picture of both worlds.

Bonus Points
This book is awesome in itself, but I give bonus points because of Zuzana. She is such a spunky firecracker, and very funny. Her emails in the beginning CRACK me up. And she's not afraid of anything, especially when it comes to the safety of her best friend Karou.

Summary
Hope...

Karou has lost her hope for peace when she discovers what Akiva had done. All she could do was return to the Chimera, and to a job that only she could do; help build an army and get vengeance for her family. But her loyalty is always in question.

When an old fiend arrives with a message from Brimstone, secrets are discovered, and sides have to be chosen.

Akiva and his siblings struggle to decide if they want to continue fighting their father's war.. a war they don't even know why it began. They too have to chose a side, one that will hopefully end the war.

Quote Teaser
There is intimacy in pain. Anyone who has comforted a sufferer knows-the helpless tenderness, the embrace and murmur and slow rocking together as two become one against the enemy, pain.

I definitely recommend reading this book!

I was provided this ARC Via Netgalley and Little, Brown and Company in exchange for my honest review. (And I did a little happy dance yesterday when I got this book!)

I loved this book x infinity!

ARC Thoughtless Review

Thoughtless (Thoughtless, #1)Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens

This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review via Edelweiss and Gallery Books.

This book was heartbreaking, infuriating, yet amazing. Stephens style of first person writing was a bit different, but I got over it by the third chapter. My favourite part was definitely the ending, though I'll never be able to look at a coffee shop the same. I am having a hard time with my feelings over this book. I am so mad at Kiera for what she did to Denny! I completely understand how she could fall for Kellen, but at the same time everything could have been solved if she talked to him.

Cover Reveal Reaction by Jessica Roberts

Reaction Blurb (Contains Spoilers if you haven't read Reflection!)

Harmony…

I’ve previously had that in my life, but only once, briefly, a while ago. It was during the time I’d started my first year of college. My own apartment, a new old car, and a life free of deadbeat stepfathers, all of which was fulfilling enough. But if it wasn’t, I also had a best friend, soul mate, and boyfriend all in one. Yes, life was near perfect.

But one stormy night can change everything…

For many months I rested in a prolonged sleep, fighting for my life. Well, more than fighting for it, also dreaming of it. Dreaming of him. Thank goodness, the dream is over and I’m back in the real world now. And all I want is for everything to return to the way it was. But nothing’s the same; most of all, us.
Once again, I find myself at the crossroads of a ruthless battle, this time not for life, but love. Do I fight for the guy I twice fell for, or do I let her take him away?

Gabriel's Inferno Review

Gabriel's Inferno (Gabriel's Inferno #1)Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard

Gabriel's Inferno was good.. I really liked it. I loved all of the comparisons to Dante and his writing, it made me want to go read Inferno. I love the Italian theme and how Dante speaks to Julia in Italian. It's very romantic.

The books was well written and poetic at times, it was also balanced with periods of humor and hotness. It was perhaps a bit too angsty, but I couldn't stop reading it! This book is compared to 50 Shades and I can't help but to agree with the comparison. However, I loved how Gabriel ended up being in the story.. I didn't like how he was in the beginning. You can't go from asshole to sweet lover boy overnight.
