Throwback Thursday

Since I have recently gained the love of reading, I have felt a slight lacking of the classic book department. My resolve is to read one classic book a month. The book for the month of August, I read Pride and Prejudice.

Pride and PrejudicePride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book, by far has been one of my most difficult reads yet. I usually don't read this genre, but felt like I was missing out.. Maybe I'd love Mr. Darcy too! The fact is, I do.. I love Mr. Darcy! I had to keep a dictionary handy through out the book, because there were several words that I had never even read before. The journey was well worth it! P&P was a beautiful love story that can transcend the ages. I won't add much more to this review other than some of my favorite quotes from the book:

"There are very few of us who have heart enough to be really in love without encouragement."

"A person can be proud without being vein. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us."

And one of my favorite parts of the book, between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth:
"I vain I have struggled. It will not do. My feelings will not be repressed. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you."

I think I must be one of the only readers in the world who can't stand Austen! That said, the problem is probably me, haha.
