Excerpt
I was finally starting to clear the turmoil in my mind and return to my no wake zone when I could sense someone sitting next to me. I briefly panicked as I wondered what I should do. Then I slowly opened my eyes to see Eddie sitting in the chair next to me staring at me.
“Hello, Alexandria,” he said in greeting.
“Wh-what are you going here?” I stammered.
He grinned. “Sitting with you.” There was that damn dimple again. The sight of it made my heart race.
“I don’t remember inviting you to sit at my table.”
“Hmm,” he said as he reached for my tea. “What are you drinking?”
Then to my shock and horror, he helped himself to a sip from my cup.
“You got the mint herbal tea. Good choice.” He took another sip of my tea then placed the cup down between us. Did he really think I was going to share it with him?
“I also don’t remember giving you permission to drink my tea,” I glared at him.
Eddie leaned in close and said, “Alexandria, you should know by now that I take what I want.”
I gulped. He was so close I could feel heat radiating from his body. A shiver ran through me.
“And you want my tea?” I asked as I instinctively pulled the cup closer to me.
He leaned in close enough to whisper in my ear. “That’s not all I want.”
My throat went completely dry so I took a sip of tea before remembering Eddie had just taken two sips from the cup. The thought of his lips recently touching the same thing my lips were touching turned me on more than I liked. I couldn’t stop thinking about his lips and what they could do to me.
When I glanced at Eddie, he was staring at me. And not just any stare. He was giving me a very naughty ‘I want to rip your clothes off’ stare. Oh, God, I’m in trouble, I thought as my stomach started to churn. The only thing I could be thankful for was that we were outside in a very public place.
“When are you going to let me show you everything I want from you, Alexandria?” His gaze was laser intense.
I tried to speak but no words came out. I had to think rationally before I did something completely stupid. But the only thing that came to mind were his lips touching mine. I instinctively bit my lower lip, which then reminded me of Daniel and the utterly sexy way he always did that.
Oh, God. I was definitely going to drive myself insane.
It took every ounce of energy I could muster to stand and grab my book. “I think I’d better go,” I managed to mutter.
Eddie motioned toward my half empty cup. “Aren’t you going to finish your tea? I think it’s still hot.” The way he said it, made it sound like the tea wasn’t the only thing that was still hot. Ugh.
“Why don’t you keep it,” I said as I turned to leave.
I tried to hurry away but I could feel Eddie coming up behind me. His energy was unmistakable.
“Still going on that date tonight?” he asked when he caught up to me.
“Not that it’s any of your business,” I said, trying to put him off.
He slid in front of me and stopped me from walking any further. I froze when I saw that his expression had turned serious. He cupped my chin with his hand and gazed into my eyes. “Spend the night with me instead of him.”
I gulped. Why was Eddie doing this now? I was going to see Daniel in just a few hours.
“I can’t do that, Eddie.” I would never do that to Daniel.
“Yes you can,” he urged. Eddie had so much desire in his eyes it took my breath away.
“I can’t break a date I have in a few hours. It isn’t fair.”
Eddie ran a finger down the side of my cheek and it sent shivers through me. I knew if I didn’t get away from him immediately, I’d end up in bed with him and I would be breaking my date with Daniel. Deep down, I knew I didn’t want to do either. Or did I?
“You’re too good, Alexandria,” Eddie said. “Do you know that?”
I didn’t have the time or desire to analyze that one. I just knew I had to get away from Eddie’s charms before he charmed me right into bed.
“I really need to go.” I tried to sidestep Eddie but he just moved in front of me again and continued to block my way.
He leaned close to my ear and I could feel his breath on my neck. And God, he smelled good. Like coconut suntan oil. “If you don’t get everything you need tonight, you know where to find me. Just knock on my door. I’ll be waiting.”
Then he gave me a little grin, turned and walked away, leaving me melting on the sidewalk into a heap of lust and desire.

Aberrant Review

Aberrant (Aberrant #1)Aberrant by Ruth Silver

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In the future Dystopian society of Cabal, the government instills equality for all and offers its citizens the perfect system. There is food, shelter and jobs for everyone. The one requirement is to follow the rules without question, including the government's match in marriage and "The Day of the Chosen", a lottery that randomly selects families to conceive children as natural means hasn't existed in generations. Following her eighteenth birthday, Olivia Parker accepts her requirement to marry her childhood best friend, Joshua Warren, and is eager to start her work assignment and new life when it all comes abruptly to an end as she's arrested and thrown in prison. The only crime committed, her existence. Olivia is unlike the rest of the world born not from "The Day of the Chosen." The truth haunts the government and puts her life in grave danger as one simple fact would destroy the perfect system.

With Joshua's help, Olivia breaks free of prison and is forced on the run. Together they set out to find the promised rebel town in search of a new home and new life together. Their situation seems less than promising as they reach the town of Haven. New rules and customs must be adhered to in order to stay. Leaving would mean most certain death in the large expanse of the Gravelands. Time is running out as the government mounts an attack to destroy Olivia and bury her secret with her. Thrown into a world unlike their own, they must quickly adapt to survive.

My Review
Aberrant is a fantastic YA dystopian read! It is very intriguing and fast paced. I love the romance aspect and the whole dystopian setting. There is also a sci-fi element at the end that has me panting for the next book! I could see this going into a NA book (which I kinda hope it goes that direction eventually), especially since the premise of the story is wanting a young girl to get pregnant, more specifically "do it" to save the human race. The ending was a tad bit clify, but I felt content with it.

Cover love and writing
I like the new cover much better than the original.. it was a bit rough. This one is much more interesting! I also like the writing style of Silver. It's not too much at once, and in a Dystopian book that is best. You don't get the whole new world shoved down your throat!

Main Character
I really liked Olivia for the heroine of this story. She has down moments, but isn't too whiny or depressed. She was determined and headstrong. She very much cares about Josh and would do anything for her best friend/love of her life.

Swoonworthy points: 6.5
Aberrant had a few swoony points, but it was more of an adventure than romance. However, as I expressed earlier, I really think Silver could add a few more of the romantic elements in later in this series. I <3 Josh. He is super protective and sweet! I really like how their relationship built over time too!

Overall, this was a really good read, and a great start for a book series. I highly recommend it!

My Review

Meet Nathan

And Ashton

Both have secrets, so they decide to

No Attachments was amazing! It was the total package as far as books are concerned! I laughed, swooned, and was overall awed at this book. The flow was great, the smexy scenes were hot! I loved Nathan! The overall plot of the book was simple, but it was impeccably delivered. Overall, a fantastic New Adult book!!

Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control.

And she doesn’t exist.

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.

Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.

When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.

Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.

The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

Of Silver and Beasts Book Blast and Gift Card Giveaway!!

***Excerpt***
“What’s your rank, baby blue eyes?” the guy asks, pushing off his cot and stalking toward the prince.
Everything in me screams to act, but I don’t want to declare alliances this early on. Not without understanding the dynamic of placements and bonds already formed among these people. But I’ll not let this hulk of a man harm the prince. I brace my heel against the wall, ready to push off and lunge.
Prince Caben rises to his feet, slowly turning to face him. He straightens his spine, squaring his shoulders. “I don’t have one. And my name is Payne. Not ‘baby blue eyes’, meathead.”
Big guy laughs, his husky voice bounces off the rock walls. “I’m Crew”—he beats his chest hard once, like a barbarian—“and I’ve won three fights. I’ll win the next two and be the one awarded the freedom ring.” He leans down toward Prince Caben, leveling their faces. “So don’t even think about you or your princess over there walking out of here. I’m ranked as a Colossal. The strongest Colossal in Bax’s league.”
Princess? I nearly scoff. Then I realize what the problem with Crew is: he feels threatened by Prince Caben. That revelation almost makes me laugh out right. What does a big stack of muscles like Crew have to fear from the prince?
The other prisons slowly circle around the stand-off in the center of the cell. Tension thickens the musty air. It coils around my spine, tightening my muscles. If I allow the fight to continue without interruption, will the guards stop it? They’d want their fighters in pristine shape, wouldn’t they?
Prince Caben doesn’t back away from Crew. Instead, he moves into his space. I roll my eyes. Stupid, conceited man.
“Freedom ring?” the prince questions. “As in, there’s a chance to leave?” He rubs his chin, and I notice the dark shadow of facial hair that has darkened his features overnight. “Is there a season that has to be won, or can someone gain five wins during their entire imprisonment?”
Crew’s eyebrows pinch together. He’s clearly despondent that he hasn’t succeeded in intimidating the prince. “We’re in a season right now, you weakling. If you don’t win—you’re dead. Which by the looks of you, will happen in your first match.”
Prince Caben nods, as if he’s simply piecing together a jigsaw puzzle and not being told of his demise. “What is the cuff for?” He points to the iron clamp around Crew’s wrist.
“It’s our biometric monitor.” Crew shoves the cuff up close to the prince’s face. “See those three blue lights? Those are my wins. When the fifth lights up, I’m outta’ here.”
“Has anyone ever won the freedom ring before?” Prince Caben asks.
Crew’s massive arms tremble. “No,” he grinds out. “But I will.” He cocks his cuffed hand back, then sends a blow to Prince Caben’s chin.
Hell.
I’m up and racing across the cell before the prince hits the ground. Crew spots me from his peripheral. He turns and swipes the air. I duck, roll, and come up behind him. I jump on the cot and leap onto his back.
“You squirrely little ...” he mumbles, trying to reach over his shoulders to get a hold on me.
Tightening my arms around his thick neck, I squeeze. He gasps for air, and rams my back into the wall. I wheeze as the air whooshes from my lungs, pain splintering through my already bruised chest. But I hold tight, bearing down harder, and cut off his supply of oxygen.
Finally, I feel Crew weaken beneath my hold. He drops to his knees, and I only release him once I’m sure he’s knocked out.
Stepping around the now limp Crew, I glance at all the wide eyes studying me, and meet the prince’s. Fury ignites his stormy blue irises. He picks himself off the floor and heads toward one of the side chambers, throwing the tattered material aside as he stalks inside.
I follow after him. When I step inside the tiny, dank room, my eyes trail Prince Caben as he paces. He reaches each side of the small chamber with three quick strides. Back and forth.
On his third round, I open my mouth and get out a single syllable before he holds up a hand, halting me. He drives his hand through his dark hair. “Thank you for making me look like a spineless jerk.” He shakes his head and faces me.
Taken aback, I say, “This is my duty to protect—”
“No. In your country it was your duty to guard me. In my world and here”—he opens his arms wide—“a man fights his own battles. He does not depend on a woman to fight them for him. You just disgraced me.”
Fire simmers in my core. “I’m still assigned as your protector no matter what realm we inhabit, Your High—” I stop myself before addressing him by title out of habit. “Your pride is polluting your reasoning.”
He laughs. “Yes, well. Thanks to your show out there, I no longer have my pride to worry about.”

Second Book Jitters: aka My Thoughts on Releasing Emancipating Andie

Second Book Jitters is an actual medical condition. Did you know that? It’s true. I’ve got a case of second book jitters, and the only prescription…is copious amounts of wine and chocolate.

Let me start by saying that I released my first novel, Back to You, to an audience of zero. No one. Not a single person was waiting for it. I just hit publish and sat back and said, “Okay, so…it’s done!” And then it sat there. Staring at me. Taunting me. Saying, “So here I am! Whatcha gonna do with me now?”

Eventually I sent it out to a few bloggers and told some of my friends and family about it. I remember telling my husband, “It would be so cool if a stranger read it,” because I honestly just envisioned my friends and family buying copies to support me, and maybe convincing a friend or two of their own to get a copy. Little did I know just how many “strangers” would read it, or how many of those strangers would become friends, or how amazing and supportive and wonderful you all would be. You have rocked my world and then some, and I love you all for it.

That being said, releasing a book to an audience is probably one of the most intimidating and nerve-wracking things I’ve ever done. Because Emancipating Andie isn’t Back to You. And Chase and Andie aren’t Michael and Lauren. And as I gnaw my fingernails to the bone, I just keeping thinking, “That’s okay, right?”

I tell myself of course it is. I tell myself that it would be pointless and silly to write the same book over and over, to write the same characters and give them different names. Of course it should be different. People want different. Right?

*Cue fingernail biting as I uncork a bottle of wine.*

All kidding aside, I truly do hope you enjoy Emancipating Andie. I hope Chase makes you cringe and then laugh and then swoon, and that Andie makes you want to strangle her one minute and hang out with her the next. And thank you so much for the support and love you’ve shown me since I stepped on to this scene five months ago. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you all. (And that’s me speaking, not the jitters.) xo

Broken at Love Tour, Guest Post and Giveaway!!

When a knee injury ends twenty-year-old Quinn Rowland’s pro tennis career, he’s not only dumped by his hot Russian girlfriend but ordered to attend college by his disinterested billionaire father. A rich kid who’s not used to being disappointed by life, Quinn and his sociopathic half-brother Sebastian create a frat house game intended to treat girls how they see them—as simple game pieces to be manipulated for their pleasure.

College sophomore Emilie Swanson knows Quinn’s reputation—after all, he did send one of her sorority sisters into therapy earlier in the semester—but the game and his charm bring them closer together and soon she starts to believe there’s more to Quinn than people think.

But what if the more is something darker than a game of toying with emotions and breaking hearts?

Quinn and Emilie might be falling for each other, but there are secrets he’s not ready to tell—and lifestyle changes he’s reluctant to make. She willingly stepped on the court, but if Emilie finds out she started out as nothing as a pawn in Quinn and Sebastian’s twisted game, she might never forgive him.

To his surprise, Quinn finds that he might finally care about someone more than he cares about himself…even if that means letting Emilie walk away for good.

Guest Post

Choosing a POV is always one of the most fun parts of starting a novel for me! I’ve never written from a guy’s POV before, at least not one like Quinn’s, but his character is actually the one who showed up first and demanded I write down the story. The entire opening chapter was the inspiration for the book, and there was no way I could do it justice without letting Quinn show us his life through his eyes.

Dual POV can bring so much to the table, but if it’s not necessary, it can be a total waste of space. I considered whether or not Quinn’s POV was necessary to Broken at Love, discussed with critique partners whether or not to perhaps tell only the first chapter from his POV, and spent a lot of time making the decision.

The truth is, Broken at Love could not be told as effectively without Quinn’s POV. There were places in the book where I actually considered whether or not Emilie’s POV was necessary, but in the end, decided it’s very strongly both of their stories. It doesn’t belong to either of them alone.

Quinn’s the type of character who bottles up all of his real emotions. He’s hardly honest with himself, so getting him to be honest with other characters was pretty much out the window, at least for the first three-fourths of the book. The only way to gain reader sympathy for Quinn’s plight was to let them inside his head and his heart, to prove that there was more going on that what he showed to the world. The scenes between him and his father, him and Sebastian, and his inner monologue really brought home the kind of personal issues he’d dealt with for most of his life, as well as the depth of his disappointment over losing tennis. It also let us know that, no matter what he told Emilie, his feelings were quite different.

As far as writing from a male POV, I was a little bit nervous, but found that his voice flowed just as easily (if not more so) for me than Emilie’s. I’ve been quite fortunate to have had many good guy friends along the way, and since I’ve always been a “guy’s girl,” (meaning none of them wanted to date me), they weren’t trying to impress me into bed. That left them free to speak uncensored (and often crudely) about life and ladies—I can’t believe I’m finally thankful that boys friend zoned me in high school and college! LUCKY ME!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

In all seriousness, I loved writing Quinn’s POV. I don’t think that dual POV is something that can be forced on a novel—the particular story has to require it. A good, general rule is that if a story can be told properly with only one POV, you probably don’t need a second one.
My advice is simple—if you need to use a multiple POV, you’re book will tell you. Make sure you listen!

Author Bio:

I’ve long had a love of stories. A few years ago decided to put them down on the page, and even though I have a degree in film and television, novels were the creative outlet where I found a home. I’ve published Young Adult under a different name, but when I got the idea for Broken at Love (my first New Adult title), I couldn’t wait to try something new – and I’m hooked.  In my spare time I watch a ton of tennis (no surprise, there), play a ton of tennis, and dedicate a good portion of brain power to dreaming up the next fictitious bad boy we’d all love to meet in real life.

TEASER
Reclining against the back of the garden tub with her eyes closed, she knew the moment he stepped into the room by the way her body reacted, tingling with an awareness that had always been there between the two of them. Even when she’d been disguised as a guy.

Heat that had nothing to do with the temperature of the bath flooded her veins. She opened her eyes to find him leaning back against the door frame looking at her with a heavy lidded gaze. Steam billowed from the white porcelain mug cupped in his masculine hands. Slowly, the focus of his gaze lifted from where her breasts peeked out above the surface of the bubbles to her face. Looking pointedly at the mug, she arched a brow. “Is that for me?”

“The tea you mean?” Marcus asked suggestively, giving her a sexy half smile.

Avery reached out with a soapy arm to take the mug he offered her. “The tea will do… for now,” she said, playing along. Blowing over the top before taking a sip, she sighed with pleasure at the first taste of the rich exotic brew. Warmth from the tea slid down her throat while the passionate expression on Marcus’ face fueled warmth of a different sort.

Purposefully, she sat up further in the water, feeling the bubbles sliding down to her waist. Eyes darkening to deep sapphire followed their path with focused concentration. She started to bring the tea to her mouth again when he abruptly reached for it and removed it from her hands.

The mug clattered as he set it down on the black granite countertop. He grabbed a thick white bath towel off the warming rack. Wordlessly, he unfolded it and held it outstretched for her to step into. “You are so beautiful,” he said watching her rise from the tub.

He wrapped her flushed body in the soft heated towel and swept her off her feet. Cradled tight to his rock-hard chest, she found herself swiftly carried to the bedroom. Her heart hammered excitedly against her ribs as he laid her out on the king sized bed and began to caress her body. With calloused fingertips he expertly stroked her like an instrument that he had mastered. She’d never had a lover like Marcus. Not that there had been many before him. But she could never have imagined anyone making love to her the way he did. Like it was a physical expression of what he felt inside his soul.

He ran his hands across every inch of her sensitized creamy white skin plucking lightly in certain areas, circling teasingly in others, always seeming to intuitively know where and how to touch in a way that would give her the most pleasure. By the time he covered her body with his own she was trembling and ready. She moaned deep in her throat at the exquisite feeling of completion she felt when he finally brought their bodies together.

Over the past week she’d sensed his lovemaking taking on an even higher level of intensity than usual as if he was savoring each moment. Now he made love to her so tenderly and so patiently that it took only moments before he’d coaxed from her the ultimate crescendo. And as it always was between them, after she cried out his name, he soon followed, dampening her vocal release with his mouth over hers, as if he were drinking in her essence.

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

My Review

Oh Swoon! I LOVE you Woods so hard!

I have to say that this is my favorite thus far in the series. Not that I didn't love Rush, but the whole could be my sister's-sister didn't exactly draw me in and keep me. But Woods has always been such a gentleman, even when he is being a bad boy! He's a dirty taller too! HOTNESS! I like how uncomplicated their love is,once they know, they know. It's real! I  could seriously go on and on about this book... but I'll spare you all my gushing and say get the book!

About the Author

Abbi Glines was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She grew up in the small town of Sumiton, Alabama where she left the summer she turned eighteen. She didn’t get far… she chased her high school sweetheart down to the coast and she’s been there ever since.
Abbi now lives in the quaint southern town of Fairhope, Alabama with her three children and husband Keith (the high school sweetheart she chased after). Her life is never dull and Keith always makes sure there is another “experience” for them to explore.
Books published by Abbi include The Vincent Boys and the USA TODAY bestseller The Vincent Brothers, Breathe, Because of Low, the USA TODAY bestsellers While It Lasts and Just For Now, The Existence Trilogy that includes the USA Today Bestseller Ceaseless, and The New York Times bestseller and Wall Street Journal bestseller Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far.
When Abbi isn’t locked away in her office typing away she is hauling her kids to and from their many social activities. You could say her second job is the Glines Kids personal chauffeur. It’s a rather illustrious job.
