Facade Blog Tour and $25 GC Giveaway!!

FACADE
by Nyrae Dawn
Publication Date: September 24, 2013
Genre: New Adult
Mass Market
ISBN: 9781455576319

No one knows who twenty-one year-old Adrian Westfall is behind his façade. After what he's done, he deserves to live alone with his pain, even if he'd do anything to forget. Anything for a moment of quiet without his past haunting him.

Eighteen year-old Delaney Cross wants nothing more than to absolve her family from her father's sins. To keep her suicidal mom off that ledge, and help her brother Maddox get the light back in his eyes. She thinks their road to freedom is through Adrian.

Adrian and Delaney are bound together by tragedy... Only Adrian doesn't know it. As their lives intertwine, they find a solace in each other they never knew existed. Laney knows she needs to tell him-to come out from behind her smoke screen, but to say the words could mean losing him.

Two people. Two disguises. True love. Will it be enough to save them when all secrets are bared?

When I see my sister, Angel, walk over to Ash’s grave I don’t get out of the car. When some guy walks up and grabs her hand, I don’t know who he is and yet, I don’t bother finding out. They hug and I don’t walk over and do the same thing to her. It’s not our thing to stand around having some group, mourning session over the two year-old boy who died too soon.
Nope. This is real life. Not like all the stupid fucking books I read or the movies people watch or the reality shows that couldn’t be farther away from reality.
Without moving an inch, I watch her. Watch as she sets flowers on Ashton’s grave. As the guy pulls her into a hug. As they kneel on the ground, probably talking to him in a way I’ll never have the balls to do.
The guy says something to her and then gets up and walks away. I duck further down in my seat, but no one is paying attention to me. He heads back to a little car and waits.
Angel’s hands go to her face and I know she’s crying in them. Know she’s mourning the loss of Ash, the boy she loved so much. The boy she took care of better than any mom could. I know she sent the guy away because she’s like me and needs to handle shit on her own. Only unlike me, she’ll never run.
She cries out there for probably thirty minutes. The whole time my chest is tight. Aching. It’s hard to breathe and I want to turn away, but I don’t. I deserve to feel this way and deserve to see this.
A fist squeezes tighter and tighter around my heart. My face is wet, but I don’t bother to wipe away the tears, either. Real men don’t fucking cry. That’s what dad always said before he hit me in a series of body shots, until I couldn’t stop myself from doing just what he said I shouldn’t do.
Then he’d beat me harder for being weak.
Angel’s shoulders are shaking. I can tell from this far away.
I’m not an idiot. Never have been. I know it wouldn’t make me weak to walk over there and hug her. To hold her and tell her it’ll be okay, but I still won’t do it. What right do I have to try and console her, when I’m the one who destroyed everything?
When I’m the one who let Ash die?

So I sit here and watch her, just so I’ll never forget the pain I caused.

The Dark Light of Day Review and Giveaway!!

Title: The Dark Light of Day
Author: T.M. Frazier
Publication date: September 15, 2013
Warning: This is not your typical romance. The story of Abby & Jake contains disturbing situations, graphic violence, sex, strong language, drug use, and all types of abuse.

Abby has been through hell and has survived one of the most brutal childhoods imaginable…barely.

To the outside world she's just a loner with an attitude.

When her grandmother dies in a tragic explosion, Abby is left with questions-and nothing else.

Homeless, sleeping in a junkyard, and on the run from a system that has failed her over and over again, she meets Jake, a tattooed blue-eyed biker with secrets that will rival her own.

Two broken souls that can't be healed. They can't be saved.

Abby & Jake must reveal to one another their most guarded secrets and discover if they can embrace the darkness those secrets hold-and the darkness within themselves.

If they can accept one another for who they really are, they might be able to learn that love isn’t always found in the light

TDLoD is a wonderfully effed up dark romance! The story starts with one of the worst days of Abby's life, the day of her graduation. She finds out her grandma died, and not quite being 18 years old, she is forced to find a home or run from the foster system. Abby has had one of the worst childhoods imaginable, surely this couldn't be too bad.. right?

Then she meets Jake, his life definitely isn't sunshine either. With a father that wants to kill you and secrets that you'd kill to keep, he is not quite whole either. He takes Abby in and the two scarred souls try to soothe each other. But when the darkest day comes will they may not be able to find the light with each other.

This was a truly dark read at times, I felt sick and depressed for the things that happened in both of the characters lives. Just when it seems they could find happiness things totally goes to shit. This was such an angsty rollercoaster. There were some smexy scenes that were great. I think Frazier did a wonderful job writing this book, I couldn't stop reading it once I started. I think the cover could use some work, yet it very much pertains to the content of the book, but it's not something that would scream, "Read Me."

The ending.. it was awesome! I couldn't have asked for a better outcome, with the cards that had been dealt. I was glad that there was a good resolve with most of the major conflicts in the book. I liked Abby's character too, she was broken but a trooper. I honesty can't say that I would've had the courage to keep going, as she did. And Jake, I love a bad boy with a heart of gold, that's only for you. He had a hidden sweet side that definitely could make you swoon.

Overall, I would highly recommend it. In fact, it will probably make it on my re-read list, it was that good!

Because of Lucy Book Blitz and Giveaway!!

Because of Lucy by Lisa Swallow
Publication date: August 28th 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

*Recommended 17+ due to strong language and sexual content*

Ness’s parents are shocked when she turns down her place at Leeds University and takes on a full-time job in a call center. Determined to begin her adult life the way she wants, Ness moves to Leeds to live with her best friend Abby.

One night she meets Evan, who is everything she hates about guys. He may be hot but he’s also drunken, arrogant, and on top of that, he apparently has sex with girls and forgets about it. But Evan isn’t what he seems and Ness soon discovers they have more in common than she thought.

Evan is struggling to escape from his past too, and when Lucy appears she threatens his new relationship with Ness. Unsure if she can deal with the effect Lucy has on Evan, Ness makes a decision about her future which pulls them apart.

When their new lives don’t go as planned, Ness and Evan are both faced with difficult choices. All because of Lucy…

(When Ness meets Evan)

I side step the sink and turn. A guy leans against the doorframe, trying to appear nonchalant but his slackened stance indicates he’s attempting to keep himself upright. His brown hair is longer at the front and spills into his face, and unfocused brown eyes appear to be looking in my direction. He’s one of the regulars. I don’t pay a lot of attention, but he’s a good-looking guy and they never go unnoticed.
“Yes?” I snap. I’m so not in the mood.
His eyes sweep my figure. Unbelievable... I straighten my sleeves and look at him with an eyebrow raised.
“Are you Abby’s housemate?”
“Who are you?”
“Evan.” He rubs his nose. “You’re not a student?”
“Correct, I am the one not lying in a drunken haze on the floor contemplating my navel.”
Evan takes a step forward, steadying himself with one hand as my witty repartee sails over his head. “Why?”
“Why am I not on the floor pissed?”
“Why aren’t you a student?”
“Because I work instead.”
“Hmm.” He pauses and grasps onto the sink, searching for a glass. I pass him the spare one. “Did you fail?”
 “Fail what?”
Evan fills the glass. “Or are you just not smart enough for uni? What is it you do?” He gulps the water in three mouthfuls then wipes his mouth with his hand.
Arrogant wanker.
“That’s right, I’m not smart enough. I’m living with Abby until I can find a nice man to marry then I can have 2.4 kids and a house in the suburbs. Because, as I’m not a student, I have no future.”
Evan leans against the sink. “Fair enough.”
Oh my god he believes me. How pissed is he exactly? “So, you think anyone who doesn’t go to university is inferior to you?” I demand.
I’ve seen her friends looking down their noses at me. Inverted snobbery. On top of that, the locals hate students and the students hate locals. I’m neither. I can’t win.
We’re close now and he stinks of alcohol and pot, a faint hint of deodorant lingering on his clothes. Evan’s T-shirt has come untucked and rides up as he leans against the sink. He’s toned, evidently works out. I can’t help myself, I check him out. Beneath his curls he has deep brown eyes. Incoherent eyes. I hate to admit, but something about him is seriously sexy.
Even if he is a dick.
“Well, if you’ll excuse me,” I say.
He sniggers.
“What’s funny?”
“You sound like the Queen.”
Not this again. I get enough crap at work. I move from Cheltenham to Yorkshire and suddenly I’m ‘stuck up home counties girl’.
I don’t dignify his comment with an answer and turn away from him, and walk out of the kitchen.
“Want me to get the guy out of your bed?” he calls after me.
I stop and look round. “You know him?”
“I could replace him.”
My mouth drops open at his arrogance. An attempt at a flirtatious smile plays around his lips but the unfocused eyes kill the effect he’s trying to achieve. He’s serious. I imagine he has a ready supply of eager girls. No surprise with a body and looks like his, such a shame he needs a personality transplant.
I step towards him. “Evan. I am not pissed. Nor are you getting into my bed. Good night.”
Feeling happy with my retort, I saunter towards the stairs. Behind me, Evan impersonates my sentence with an exaggerated posh accent.
It’s a good thing that I’m sober otherwise I’d go back there and punch him.

That First Kiss Blog Tour and Giveaway!!

Title:   That First Kiss (Night Calls #2)
Author:  J.C. Valentine
Genre: Adult audiences 18+
Publication Date:  June 18, 2013
Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.
Mercurial and charming, Tate Larson is a rising author and playboy who has a different woman on his arm every night of the week. Focused on his work, Tate has no plans to settle down any time soon. That is until he meets his pretty new assistant, Piper Donovan.

Desperate to escape the promise of backwater living, Piper ditched her Alabama hometown and never looked back. That was almost two years ago. Now that she is out of a job and her bank account is running on fumes, she’s desperate to find a job, fast. She finds the break she is searching for when she lands a position at Bookish Temptations. A little dancing and a lot of drinks with the girls seem the perfect way to celebrate. After a brief but explosive encounter with a man she was never supposed to see again turns out to be the same man she will be bending over backwards to please, her every instinct tells her to run. But when running means leaving the life she has struggled so hard to create, Piper decides her only option is to continue working for the devastatingly sexy Tate Larson...even if it kills her.

Unable to deny their growing attraction, they struggle to keep their distance in a relationship that requires anything but.

“Hello?” Someone pounded on the door. “People need to use the bathroom!”
Grinning at her, the man walked casually to the trash can in the corner to dispose of the condom and tucked himself back into his pants while she got busy righting her clothes. There wasn’t a damn thing she could do about her panties, though. Pulling off the ruined garment, she flung it into the trash. As she pulled down her skirt and made her way to the door, she caught him staring at her in amusement.
She shrugged. “I’ve been meaning to buy new underwear anyway.”
Instead of letting her pass, he looped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer. A strange look passed over his face as he looked down on her. Piper felt a stirring of butterflies deep in her belly as he lowered his lips to hers. He kissed her slowly, his tongue sweeping languidly across hers. Unlike the way he took her body, he made love to her mouth, showing her without words all that he was capable of. She could get lost in the gorgeous stranger, her brain warned her, but she didn’t want to listen. Right then, she could think of nothing better than being lost.
He kissed her until her legs quaked and her bones melted, and he stopped all too soon.
The pounding on the door was more insistent now; the sharp voices of several women demanding they get out audible even over the constant thumping of base reverberating through the walls. The distraction ripped them from the moment and thrust them back into harsh reality.
Still wrapped up in each other, Piper relished the feel of his tender caress as his thumbs smoothed over her cheeks, her jaw, and her bottom lip. She wanted to kiss him again, and she knew he wanted to kiss her too.
Stepping away, she watched with disappointment as he went to the door. He paused, his fingers covering the lock. With his back to her, he asked, “You got a name?”
“Piper. How about you?” she asked, but he was already opening the door. An angry mob of women waited outside for them, and Piper hurried to follow him out. Together, they took the walk of shame past scowling, bloodthirsty, hormonal females bristling for a fight and back into the heart of the club. She came up short when he turned to face her.

Grasping the back of her neck again, he drew her up to him and brushed her mouth with a kiss. “Thank you,” he said softly, and then without a backward glance, he slipped into the crowd.

Price of a Kiss Blog Tour and $25 Amazon GC Giveaway!!

Title: Price of a Kiss
Author: Linda Kage
Release date: September 4, 2013
Age Group: Mature New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
I don’t care what my cousin says; I am not the queen of impossible relationships. I mean, just because my last boyfriend tried to kill me and left a bit of a scar on my neck, then forced me to move across the country and legally change my name to Reese Randall to escape him, does not mean—

Oh, who am I kidding? For a freshman in college, I have to have the worst dating track record ever.

It’s no wonder love is the last thing on my mind when Mason Lowe enters my life. But the chemistry between us is like bam! Our connection defies logic. And he’s just so freaking hot. Being around him makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I even like bickering with him. He could be my soul mate…except for one glitch.

He's a gigolo.

In Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage follows Reese, who has to stay with her aunt, uncle, and cousin Eva in Florida to try and escaspe after her ex boyfriend's failed murder attempt on her. She's taken on a new identity, and is looking for a fresh start in college, but still very skeptical of guys (or anyone new) stepping into her life. On her first day of class she spots Mason Lowe from across the quad, but Eva quickly caught her up on the rumors surrounding Mason: that he was a high-priced gigolo for the ritzy women in their town. As much as Reese wasn't sure she should believe such far fetched rumors, she knew either way she was going to have to stay away from this unworldly attractive man. To help with her college expenses, Reese takes a babysitting job, only to find out after the fact that it was for Mason's sister Sarah, who has cerebral palsy.

As the witty banter between the two intensifies, they both can't ignore the pull they have towards each other and Mason and Reese become fast friends. But Reese's curiosity gets the best of her as she has to find out the rumors about Mason being a gigolo aren't only true and clientele included certain professors at the university, but his reasoning behind his job is to support his family of his single mom and special needs sister, and he doesn't think he can quit the game. Even though Reese and Mason grow incredibly close and they admit their mutual attraction for each other, the past seems to keep coming between them, both with Mason's clients that refuse to let him go and Reese's ex boyfriend who feels like he has unfinished business to settle with her.

Overall I liked this book, it was a really nice contradiction: although it covers some dark issues, the tone of it come across as very light, there are adult situations but a comical goofiness twist to them. Bonus points for such phrases as:

"Yikes, I hope it hadn't given him the scoots, that would be nasty" "He continued to gaze longingly at them, like they were bacon...or chocolate...or chocolate-bacon muffins."

I really liked all the characters, Reese was quirky and very likable and Mason more than lived up to his nickname of "Hotness" and had his sexy manly act down, but he also had a very sweet and tender side to him that he reserves for Reese and Sarah. My only real critique would be that I died from the sexual tension! We knew (hoped with all our hope) that Mason and Reese were going to get hot and heavy and I couldn't stand it being drawn out! But I loved how the silliness and closeness of their friendship crossed over to their sexual relationship. Too many authors have their characters flip a switch in their head and get all serious when they get intamate, but I love how Reese and Mason's joking and playfulness stays true throughout. Definitely would be considered an NA, but I would recommend this book to anyone who is in the sappy, angsty drama, romance rut, because this is not that.
