Imperfectly Perfect Blog Tour and Giveaway!!

Imperfectly Perfect by A.E. Woodward
Series: A Series of Imperfections #1
Publication date: June 19th 2013
Genre: Adult/17+ Contemporary Romance

Emma, Tyler and Shane have been best friends since they were kids. Along with their college addition, Rob, the four friends have an exciting life in NYC. In fact, Emma Sloan appears to have it all.

Despite being happy with her current situation, a big family announcement leaves Emma questioning whether she is truly content with her life. With her thirtieth birthday fast approaching she vows to find her ‘perfect’ man any way she can. But Emma will soon discover that the path of true love never runs smoothly and that sometimes, instead of chasing love, you have to wait for love to find you…

“What is perfection? Does it even exist? Is it attainable? Millions of people spend countless hours in search of something perfect. Perfect dress, perfect shoes, perfect haircut, perfect job. But mostly we spend our time searching for the perfect partner.”

Imperfectly Perfect by A.E. Woodward was a good read, one of those books you can read in one sitting. It is a duel POV between Emma and Shane, although Emma gets about 85% of the story. We follow her and her fun and spontaneous life in New York with her three best friends (who also just happen to be three hot men!). After going back home to the Maine countryside, for a family get together, Emma realizes (after much pushing from her mother and female relatives and her younger sister’s pregnancy announcement) that she needs to settle down and start getting into the family mindset. But little does Emma know that someone she has never seen in that light has been secretly pining over her. But when a Mr. Wonderful walks into her life, has he lost his chance to change her mind of her image of him?

I liked this story and the characters. Although Emma relates more to men, she isn’t a tomboy. She just knows the male psyche and is able to use it to her advantage. And even though she has her moments of self-pity, she isn’t overly whiny. I love the banter between her and “her boys”. I also really enjoyed Woodward’s writing style, she has a great flow between scene description and dialogue, plus I liked the roundabout way she got to her HEA, wasn’t the same resolution we read over and over. I wasn’t a fan of the cover, it wasn’t how I pictured Emma and it didn’t seem to do the story justice (the cover was a little too teeny bopper for my taste). I also didn’t like the “prologue”. It was almost written in a journal style which didn’t flow with the rest of the way the book was written, it also didn’t seem necessary, it didn’t add anything to the story. Shane, Tyler and Rob are all great characters, they are the type of guy friends any girl would want to have. Their stories will be very interesting, I will definitely want to follow up and see how they wind up!
