Sugar and spice and everything…naughty?
Pastry-chef-to-the-stars Daniela Rossi wants one thing: the abandoned building South of Market. Turning it into a soup kitchen for the homeless is the only thing that's excited her in months. And Daniella needs to feel again. Until she finds herself feeling too much - for the man who's competition for the property.
Ruthless entrepreneur Nico Cruz wants one thing: the abandoned SOMA building he grew up in, where his brother was killed. Destroying it is the only thing that will set his brother's soul at peace. And Nico always gets what he wants. But Daniela's sweet temptation makes him question what it will take to soothe his own soul.
Fortunately, in this bidding war, all's fair...
"Sweet On You" is an aptly named story chronicling two very sweet love stories. We meet Daniela Rossi, a hot, spicy, quick tempered and witted, young Italian woman. She is a world renowned chef, who has professionally achieved just about everything she could ask for, however she still doesn't feel like it's quite enough. After having a life altering moment while observing a homeless family, she is inspired to open a soup kitchen and all around refuge for the local homeless, and has found the perfect building to get started. But she runs into a snag when Nico Cruz, a real estate mogul, who is equally head strong and motivated to buy the same building for personal reasons, turns the property acquisition into an all out bidding war. After meeting, and making out with, Nico, Daniela is convinced that she can use her own powers of persuasion and seduction to lure Nico out of buying their disputed building. What Daniela didn't plan on was the deep feelings that she would develop for Nico. However, Nico stays true to his word that he would literally stop at nothing to own that building, potentially compromising his hot and spicy relationship with Daniela.
We also meet Marley, Daniela's quiet and slightly geeky assistant. She is love with a man who looks right through her, only acknowledging her as Daniela's assistant and uses Marley to get Daniela do what he wants her to do. Marley's matchmaker friend convinces Marley to go on a date, she has the perfect match for her, a living embodiment of Peter Parker. Although Marley is hesitant at first, she meets Brian and is suprised by their budding attraction. She is honest with Brian about being hung up on another man, but Brian works diligently to work his way into Marley's heart. Daniela and Nico's hot and steamy relationship is the polar opposite of Marley and Brian's sweet hand holding and soft kisses. So it was fun to go from spicy to sweet and back to spicy again as both girls' stories went back and forth.
There were times when Daniela's "Italian-ness" would come out in certain situations and I would be literally laughing out loud, but her kindness peeks through with her passion and care to help the homeless and it warms your heart. I was really happy with Marley's story too. In the beginning I was expecting the typical, homely girl gets a hot and sexy makeover, then the hot guy comes drooling over to her. But instead Marley got a guy who liked her for her, she didn't have to change for him.
