My Review

I absolutely LOVED Wrecked! It is a tooth-achingly sweet romance, with just enough heat to affirm you did not accidentally pick it up from the youth section. After getting into a fight with his brother, Jake gets drunk and winds up wrecking his car and unconscious in the ICU and Emily just happens to be the nurse working in the ICU that night. Even though he is in a medically induced coma, battered and bruised, Emily finds herself intrigued by him, curious about how and why he was there, even though typically she has no patience for drunk drivers. When Jake awakens, he recognizes Emily as the green-eyed angel of his dreams and wastes no time at trying his best to charm her. Even though it is something she has never done before, and she is hesitant at the type of man Jake is, Emily gives Jake her number. But Emily's past isn't squeaky-clean either, and it is not long before Jake finds out that the angel of his dreams is also the widowed mother to a 2-year old son, Noah. Jake could easily turn around and run away from Emily and Noah, but instead he mans up and soon finds himself falling in love with both of them. Emily has to overcome her rough past, having been destroyed by Noah's father, and learn to trust and depend on Jake to be her rock.

I love Alyssa Ivy Rose's writing style, she got me hooked with the Crescent Chronicles, and this story only reinforces that a great writer truly can transcend genres. She has such a smooth way of writing, it is one of those books you can get lost in and not realize that you've actually been reading for hours. I love her character development, she weaves their descriptions into the story seamlessly, and you come to have a deep connection with them without her having to write "Jake is very likable." I also liked that she didn't have to create some far-fetched situations to create drama for the characters. Jake and Emily did have their fair share of obstacles to overcome in their relationship, but instead of feeling like you were reading a soap opera, it was more like hearing about your friends' relationships. The story didn't need to be over the top to be enthralling, it really is beautiful and heartwarming in its simplicity. I would highly recommend this book to anyone! The story seems to be one that would have an overwhelming mass appeal, I feel like it has a "The Notebook" quality in that if you love love, you will love it.
