Complete Me (Stark Trilogy #3) Review

Complete Me (Stark Trilogy, #3)Complete Me by J. Kenner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire who’s never had to take “no” for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says “yes” on her own terms.

Our desire runs deep. But our secrets cut close. Beautiful, strong, and commanding, Damien Stark fills a void in me that no other man can touch. His fierce cravings push me beyond the brink of bliss—and unleash a wild passion that utterly consumes us both.

Yet beneath his need for dominance, he carries the wounds of a painful past. Haunted by a legacy of dark secrets and broken trust, he seeks release in our shared ecstasy, the  heat between us burning stronger each day.

Our attraction is undeniable, our obsession inevitable. Yet not even Damien can run from his ghosts, or shield us from the dangers yet to come.

Complete Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences.

If you haven't read the first two books of this series, my following review may contain spoilers.

I am a huge fan of the Stark Trilogy because, while Damien has a vulnerable side, he has never looked weak to me (unlike some of my other favorite Millionaire Alpha/Doms). This book was a great read, don't get me wrong, but it was missing something to me. The whole trial was a blur, their whole time across seas was a blur.. oh except for all the sex they had. Granted, it was hot, but to me there's only so much heat you can take before you get burned (out).

Here's the thing, they lost me with all the sex, and it felt like the same story told again with a few different characters. The first book was great, because you didn't know what was coming with the painting and if she would accept his terms. The second book added the necessary angst/drama into their relationship. This book just added more drama and not really much else. The last half of the book went like this, went to the office, had sex, went home, had sex, woke up, had sex, then to the office again.

I loved Damien in the first two books, because he was bossy and stern, but he was also protective and very caring of Nikki. But in Complete Me he was more secretive and aloof, except when he wanted a piece. Which I have to give it to him for that Limo Scene and everything that happened afterwards.

So with all that griping out of the way, I have to say, that even though it didn't live up to my high expectations, it was still a good book. Kenner's writing was perfect like always, the pace was wonderful. You did get some different scenery, which was enjoyable (considering the circumstances). The whole drama thing at the end was predictable, but I like how it unfolds. I really would have liked for it to have been drawn out more.. with more angst. The very ending, though was perfect, and definitely a good ending to a good series.

He needs me like I used to need a blade-like I now need him.
...
he needs to know that I will surrender utterly to him. That it is Damien who controls my pleasure even by controlling my pain. He needs to know that he can take me to that limit. And he needs to know that I want him to.
And I do.
