Indigo Awakening (The Hunted #1)
Release Date: 12/18/12
Paperback/e-book
304 pages
Because of what you are, the Believers will hunt you down.
Voices told Lucas Darby to run. Voices no one else can hear. He’s warned his sister not to look for him, but Rayne refuses to let her troubled brother vanish on the streets of LA. In her desperate search, she meets Gabriel Stewart, a runaway with mysterious powers and far too many secrets. Rayne can’t explain her crazy need to trust the strange yet compelling boy—to touch him—to protect him even though he scares her.
A fanatical church secretly hunts psychic kids—gifted “Indigo” teens feared to be the next evolution of mankind—for reasons only “the Believers” know. Now Rayne’s only hope is Gabe, who is haunted by an awakening power—a force darker than either of them imagine—that could doom them all.
My Review
Indigo Awakening is an enchanting paranormal novel and the suspenseful story line keeps you guessing. I haven't read a book quite like this. It took a while to put the pieces together, but once I did I couldn't get enough. Loaded with suspense and magic, fans will not want to put down this memorable novel. I the direction the love interests went in this book, and I'm excited to see how that develops in the next book of the series.
Cover Love and Writing
I really love the cover of Indigo Awakening! It is pretty as well as intriguing. The writing was great! It was funny and well thought out, my only problem was the 3rd person narrative from many POVs. I personally, can't follow and relate to five or six different people. I did however, enjoy the story and the setting!
Main Character
Lucas is a young teen that was thrown into a mental institution after his parents passed away. He had always been a bit different. A few years later he manages to escape and find a family that he can finally fit in to. He is an Indigo Child, believed to be one of the strongest of the Chrystal Children (who possess a range of supernatural abilities). I like his character and how the story entwines around him.
Here's my favourtie line of the book.. it had me laughing so hard:
She hoped she looked like a beautiful butterfly emerging from its cocoon, bur more than likely, she resembled raw bratwurst being squished into a sausage. (page 49)
I hope you enjoy this book as I've read nothing like it!

Nice review, Ashley. Thanks for being part of my tour. I'm on deadline writing book #2 now. We had to change the name to Crystal Fire, but I can't wait to see how it ends. Happy reading!
