Through the Ever Night Review

Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2)Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
Publishing Date: 1/8/13

It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable.

Under the Never Sky is quite possibly my favourite Dystopian series ever. The writing, duel POV's, and setting make this series very special. Through the Ever Night was a great follow up! The chemistry between Perry and Aria rivals none other. I couldn't name all the emotions you feel while reading Through the Ever Night, one minute your heart is warmed, the next its broken in two. Then you are scared and empowered. One thing is for sure, you can't put this book down!

Cover/artwork/writing style
Simply put, I love the cover! I love the rugged looking male specimen and the beautiful Aether sky. Through the Ever Night follow the third person duel POV as it's predecessor. Rossi definitely delivers! I mostly love Perry, she makes him so human, though he's a "savage Blood Lord."

Main character..
I really like Aria's character. She has so many sides and she's strong where Perry's weak. She definitely has grown by leaps and bounds from the first time she was thrown out into the wild. I think the thing I like the most is that she isn't whiny. Aria knows what has to be done and does it. She is headstrong without being a pain in the butt!

Setting
The setting in this series cannot get much better for me. It is almost a different world. It seems there is always some new exciting setting. This time we travel from the Tides compound to Sable's territory. We were in a hover craft and camping in the wild. Of course the Aether is fluctuating and there are a few storms to worry about too!

Swoonworthy scale: 9
Something about Peregrine has me swooning all over the place! I seriously love him. He is head-over-heals in love with Aria. There is not one point in which I ever doubt his love.

When she saw him, her eyes widened in surprise, but her stride didn't slow and neither did his. He shed his things, dropping them where they fell, and sprinted. Next thing he knew, she slammed into his chest, solid and fragrant in his arms.

Perry held her against him. "I missed you," he whispered in her ear. He couldn't hold her close enough. "I should have never let you go. I missed you so much."

I loved this scene! It shows that Perry isn't afraid to hid his feelings from her. And there were several more moments like this in the book!

Bonus Points: +1
Roar and Liv's love story is an added bonus to this book. I've grown to love Roar, his handsome face, and silly personality. You also get to know his determination to save the woman who stole his heart. But the problem that Roar and Liv face while they are in Sables territory is heart-wrenching.

Summary
Perry becomes the Blood Lord of the Tides territory but that's just the beginning of his problems. He now has to deal with raiders, traitors, and Aether storms, but also his love for the enemy. Aria being faced with blackmail, had to make a very hard decision that could cost her relationship with Perry. Both are faced with hard challenges and tough decisions and hopefully their bond is strong enough to keep them together.

I freaking love this book AND Perry!!!!
