Melpomene's Tears by Jonas Hyde
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Melpomene's Tears was a beautifully written and that is an understatement. Poetry isn’t my usual genre, but I had gotten a copy courtesy of Jonas (thank you!) and decided to give it a read. It completely amazes me that a few sentences, and artfully placed words could evoke such a reaction. (I may have cried.. twice) Mr. Hyde’s poetry plagues you with grief and love lost, all the while maintaining beauty and grace. It landed on the top of my favorites list, and earned a whole hearted recommendation on my behalf.
One of my favorite lines:
Alas,
I lie,
here alone in an emerald field,
crimson rivers marbling my eyes,
dripping oceans of despair,
drowning out my soul.
