Today's topic: Fairy tale retelling vs. the Original Fairy tale?
I prefer retelling over the original. First of all, who's to say that the original is not a retelling? I mean, most stories are passed down and I am sure they are twisted from the originals. But I love when someone takes a story that we all know, then makes it their own. One of my favorites would be the erotic series by Anne Rice, in which she puts a major twist on Sleeping Beauty. The original fairy tales are good, but it's kinda like vanilla ice cream, you know what to expect. I like to add cookie dough to mine :D
