This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest review via Edelweiss and Gallery Books.
This book was heartbreaking, infuriating, yet amazing. Stephens style of first person writing was a bit different, but I got over it by the third chapter. My favourite part was definitely the ending, though I'll never be able to look at a coffee shop the same. I am having a hard time with my feelings over this book. I am so mad at Kiera for what she did to Denny! I completely understand how she could fall for Kellen, but at the same time everything could have been solved if she talked to him.
Cover
I like the simplicity of the cover, and the fact that it's still kind of hot!
Main character..
Kiera's character, again made me angry. She is seemingly innocent yet intelligent, but somehow she manages to break two men's hearts. On top of that, she had sex with both withing hours of each other. And seriously.. two months isn't that long! That is really messed up. I get that you are confused, but really? Other than that, I can relate to her.
Swoonworthy scale: 8
This is kind of a hard one to rate.. on one hand both Kellen and Denny are hot!! Both are completely in love with Kiera, and very sweet (when they want to be.) There are some very steam scenes between the three, and that coffee shop scene... *whew* BUT on the other hand, you just feel kinda wrong during half of the exchanges, because of how tangled this triangle is.
Writing Style?
This book was written in the first person narrative, and is very easy to get lost in. However, my only gripe about it was that Kiera was always blushing (like every other paragraph) and Kellen was always grinning.
Bonus Points
Two words:
Kellen Kyle
I completely have a fictional crush on him. I want to have his book babies! Haha. He is everything I'd want in a bad boy. Completely devoted, loving, funny, compassionate. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention.. a sexy lead singer of a band!!
Summary
Kiera followed Denny, her boyfriend of two years to Portland. He had an amazing job opportunity. The couple move in with Kellen, the lead singer of the D-bags. Unexpectedly, Denny has to leave out of town for two months for his new job. Kiera and Kellen become good friends in Denny's absence, however everything comes tumbling down after one phone call. Kiera finds herself in having to make a decision that will break someones heart, and no answer.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a big serving and a half of angst, and some steamy love scenes. However, be prepared to be angry, then completely heartbroken.
I really liked this book!
